UFS101 - 2nd Vocabulary Entry


1. Poverty - Being poor, that is, having little or no money.
= One of the most poverty stricken countries in the world is Nigeria.

2.Destitution - The state of being deprived of anything.
=The UK government is forcing refused asylum seekers into destitution


3.Inability - Lack of ability to do something.
=She's embarrassed because of her inability to reach the top shelf.


4. Incapable - One who is morally or mentally weak or inefficient
=He is incapable of hard work because of his physical condition.


5.Starvation - The act or process of starving
=He wants to know how much weight can he lose from starvation in two months.


6.Deprivation - The state of being deprived
=Her sleep deprivation problem is worsening.

7.Death - The action or fact of dying or being killed; the end of the life of a person or organism.
=Amy Winehouse's death still comes as a shock


8. Thwart - Prevent (someone) from accomplishing something
-I never did anything to thwart someone.

9.Famine - Extreme scarcity of food.
-East Africa is racked by terrible famine once again.

10. Drought - A prolonged period of abnormally low precipitation; a shortage of water resulting from.
-Tens of thousands of people are fleeing drought in Somalia to seek refuge in camps in Kenya and Ethiopia.
